Carter signals tax cut in new economic stimulus plan

President elect Carter said a tax cut is a likely feature of a broad economic stimulus package to be unveiled next week. He stressed employment focus with a work opportunity program and outlined advisers discusses approaches to job creation, tax relief, and waste reduction. The plan could cost about 15 to 20 billion dollars and aims to balance unemployment and inflation.

Doctor recalls murder account in desert killing case

An elderly witness testified in Maricopa County Superior Court that Linda Primrose told him in 1962 she stood over the bodies of Joyce Anne Sterrenberg and another victim, naming individuals Ernie and Salazar as possible killers. The 20 year olds were found shot in a desert north of Scottsdale on May 24, 1962.

Boundary changes studied for Scottsdale northern schools

Scottsdale School District boundary change committee proposes reassigning students among Kiva Cherokee Cocopah and Kachina schools. A new middle school at 56th Street and Cholla Road could relieve overcrowding, with temporary classrooms at Cherokee. Scottsdale loses federal grant for Hayden Road bridge

The city’s bid for a 543000 federal grant to fund 750000 Hayden Road interceptor bridge was denied by the U S Economic Development Administration. City officials say the bridge plan may be delayed though Hayden Road north extension proceeds toward Iridian Bend Road with a temporary roadway to be replaced by the bridge.

Usdane to quit post in January

Scottsdale School Board member Robert Usdane said he will resign from the board between its two enemgs in January. He plans to attend the Jan 4 meeting and submit his resignation between then and Jan 18. Harris will accept the resignation and appoint a replacement from eight candidates.
