Christmas Eve Explosion Kills Four in Mass Tenement
A gas crew seeking a leak caused an explosion and fire in a 65 year old two and a half story frame building in Northbridge Massachusetts. Four people died including a mother Pita Benoit 27 and her daughter Donna 8. Three other victims were named Reno Nolle 55 Aldo Nelle and Frank Prince 77 with eight others injured. The blast leveled three sides of the dwelling as crews searched the cellar during a driving snowstorm.

Franco Injured In Gun Mishap At Madrid Estate
In Madrid, Francisco Franco sustained multiple fractures to his left hand when a shotgun exploded while he hunted on his estate. An Interior Ministry spokesman said the chief of state was rushed to the Spanish Air Force Hospital for emergency care and was later described as not seriously injured. Motorola Secures $5500 NASA Radio Contract in Arizona
Motorola Inc of Scottsdale has won a $5,500 order for receiving sets from NASA in Huntsville Alabama. The Scottsdale contract is among state awards totaling contracts in 21 states supporting NASA space vehicle development programs. This was the sole Arizona award.
