Mitchell defense charges Colson Magruder okayed Watergate bugging
Defense lawyer William G. Hundley argued that former White House aides Charles Colson and Jeb Magruder authorized the 1972 Watergate bugging and sought to make John Mitchell the fall guy. He blamed Colson, Magruder, and others for approving the plan while H.R. Hardeman’s attorney downplayed any broader Watergate role. Judge Sirica scheduled final jury instructions for Thursday amid Christmas recess.
