Inventories Rise Amid Holiday Stockpiling
The Commerce Department reported US inventories at all levels rose by 1.9 billion dollars in October, the third straight monthly gain and the largest since last December. Analysts interpret the jump as merchants stocking up for the holiday shopping season, reversing a period of pronounced inventory liquidation since World War II.
