City building permits valued at 1,140,626 last month exceed November 1974 but the year-ago figure was far worse. Doug Hood notes 14 single family permits with a cost of 432,630 versus nine permits and 145,681 in November 1974.
F W Dodge Division data shows October 1975 total construction $118.4 million up 22 percent from October 1974. Residential contracts led gains with $49.7 million up 35 percent, while nonbuilding and nonresidential also rose. For year to date 1975 totals exceed 1974 in all sectors except nonresidential.
Apartment Selector, a new firm, reports placing about 104 renters per month in Valley apartments. President Burt Rosenthal notes 800 to 1,000 monthly calls from prospective renters and represents eight to 10 complexes in Scottsdale with nine staffers.
Scottsdale building records show a notable surge in home remodeling permits from September to November, with 30 in September 44 in November and 34 in October, up from the prior year. Through June to November totals reached 203 permits, aided by a higher valuation of 228 504, while nationwide remodeling spending is projected to rise to 27.8 billion in 1976.
Chuck Mosher of Arcanthus Architecture and Planning advises homeowners to plan carefully before remodeling. He notes Scottsdale firm bills of 2 to 3 million this year and urges a contingency fund, client references, and copies of building plans. He warns about zoning, easements, and electrical or piping limits that can block additions.
East Coast residents travel on American Airlines charters to Arizona each week for Fountain Hills inspections. McCulloch Development Co. started twice weekly flights from Sky Harbor to Lake Havasu City in May. With Fountain Hills opening the program expands to include prospective buyers for the area.
Edward F. Olivier has been named executive vice president of McCulloch Properties Inc, a McCulloch Oil Corp subsidiary, replacing Lorne Pratt who resigned to pursue private real estate development. The Fountain Hills based firm reports 800 Arizona and western state employees and 60.4 million in gross revenue last year.
