Multiple Scottsdale Road crashes injure several drivers
Police reported a three car collision at Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard left Doris Sperry and Hoppe with injuries and both cars damaged. Sperry was cited for failure to yield. A separate two car crash at Scottsdale and Indica injured driver Joseph Hoppe. Kendrick and Shears were cited for failure to yield. An 18 year old injured at O Malley Lumber Yard was treated after forklift incident.

Italian sextuplets birth ends with two surviving babies
Mrs. Petrone delivered sextuplets in Italy twenty one years after a prior childless period. Six babies were born, two girls and four boys, but four died within hours and days from complications. Doctors say all survivors weigh over four pounds and are in good condition.

Two Americans Freed and Others Cleared in Peking Release
The Chinese government announced the release of two Americans Richard Fecteau and Mary Harbert from prison and commuted John Downey's life sentence to five years. Downey, Fecteau, and Harbert had been captured in 1952 and 1954 amid alleged CIA ties. Gerald McLaughlin, detained with Harbert on the same yacht, died in custody on March 7, 1969.
