Advent wreath lighting a symbolic custom in worship
Advent wreath lighting is a growing tradition in weeks before Christmas. The four candle wreath represents the long history from Adam to Christ and the second coming, with three purple candles and a rose for Gaudete, and a central Christ candle lit at Christmas. The circle of boughs signifies God's enduring love and eternal life. It is observed in churches and homes, kept until Epiphany on January 6.
