Dr. C K Brain and colleagues study Swartkrans Cave near Johannesburg where 88 Robustus Australopithecines are found in one location. He argues cats like leopards or saber tooths used the cave to discard remains, suggesting a period when hominids were subordinate to predators before Africans Australopithecine Africanus developed fire and tools to push cats from cave areas and advance evolution.
