Paradise Valley holds its first recall election at Town Hall polling place open until 7 p.m. Four opposed incumbents are Barbara von Ammon J Duncan Brock John V Long and Peter S Wainwright with challengers Geiser Lash MacLean and Beroza. Unopposed are Bonnell Palmer Timbanard. Voters must be 18 and registered by Oct 17 1977.
Sen. John Hutton unveiled a broad 160 million tax package aimed at halving school taxes in Arizona. U S Bureau of Reclamation says more than 140 million dollars in construction is underway on 70 miles of the Central Arizona Project Granite Reef Aqueduct with eight major projects active and two sections already completed. Completion dates range 1978 to 1980 with major contracts in excavation lining tunnels siphons and transmission terminals.
A Hohokam eighth grade science project ends sadly as one egg fails to survive a 20-foot cafeteria roof drop. Students tested protective packing using jello, popcorn, sponges, and styrofoam while tamer methods included nail polish coatings and nylon hosiery casings.
