Wray Finney of Fort Cobb Oklahoma told the Arizona Cattle Growers Association that ranchers must serve a “hamburger generation” by producing more hamburger quality beef at lower costs though current knowledge is lacking. He cited 40 percent of US beef use as ground beef and projected stable prices into mid 1977 with gradual rises thereafter. He noted drought and cold limiting Midwest wheat grazing and warned of higher future prices as cattle supplies tighten.
