Fund drives toward $15,000 for Lance Blades hospital bill

Three hundred dollar donors plus $31.50 in smaller gifts pushed the Lance Blades Medical Fund to 1,155.35. Donors include Herb Drinkwater and Scottsdale Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police through Ed O Neill, plus Arizona Title Co. A fund at United Bank on Camelback Road covers the 15,000 hospital bill for the seven year old who has been in a coma since May 18 after a crash near the Boys Club.

Phoenix Model Studio and Tempe Parlor Closed as Public Nuisances

Superior Court Judge Roger Strand ruled Hollywood Model Studios and Rules Ltd in Tempe and a Tempe massage parlor public nuisances. The studio must close by Wednesday and the massage parlor by Nov. 1. Hollan barred for one year from any business with acts of prostitution or lewdness. Police arrested three models for indecent exposure. Hollan claims harassment.

Board Deadlock Over Wording in Teachers Agreement

Airman Faces Drug Hearing in Scottsdale Justice Court

A 26-year-old Luke Air Force airman Duwain Utter appears for a preliminary hearing in Scottsdale Justice Court on a felonious possession of dangerous drugs charge. He is held on $1,000 bail, absent without leave from the air base, and will face Justice James Mitchell. Utter was arrested by Phoenix police July 19 near 48th Street and the Arizona Canal after they found capsules in his possession.

Richard Angelo Miguel a 26 year old accountant with Henry and Horne in Scottsdale was found dead at the firm's office on Scottsdale Road after an asthma attack. Police investigate the death as officials note his recent move to the Valley and past asthma hospitalization.
