Are Rescued On Sinking Boat Off Block Island
A 54 person fishing party aboard the Joshua B sank after a collision with the Anna Grace in thick fog near Block Island. All were rescued. 15 jumped into the sea and were saved by the Anna Grace and a second trawler. Eight were injured lightly, Captain Lester Behan was the last to exit the sinking vessel. The Anna Grace sustained damage and Coast Guard craft escorted survivors to port for care.
