Scottsdale youth recounts kidnapping while biking near Payson
A 16 year old Scottsdale rider told Gila County deputies he was abducted Thursday afternoon on 86th Street by two men in a white 1965 Chevrolet. He said he was forced into the car with a knife, bike dumped in the Arizona Canal, then driven 22 miles east of Payson before being released. He described two suspects ages 25 to 30, one tall with black hair and a blue jeans outfit, the other shorter with brown hair in a blue shirt and jeans. The youth was treated at a Payson hospital after the ordeal.

Indian Boy Struck and Killed by Car on Reservation Road
A 13 year old Salt River Indian boy Vincent Makil was killed when he wandered into Agency Road north of McDowell and was struck by a car driven by 23 year old Gerald Williams. Williams said he did not see the child until after the 7 19 p m accident and he was not cited. The boy was taken to Scottsdale Memorial Hospital but died en route to surgery.
