Crime rises 15.4 percent in 1967 suburbs and cities

FBI director J Edgar Hoover reports a 15.4 percent rise in serious crime across the United States in 1967. The FBI tally shows over 3.8 million serious offenses, with violent crimes and property crimes increasing in both urban and suburban areas. Guns figure prominently, blamed for more than 760 murders and thousands of robberies and assaults.

Bakery Truck Backed Into Car In Scottsdale Collision

Cost of living climbs for July 1967

No Charge In Knife Attack Case In Scottsdale

William Arthur Shaw 31 of the Salt River Indian Reservation told Scottsdale police he could not recall the incident after being stabbed several times Thursday night. County Attorney declined to file a complaint due to lack of witnesses. Two men arrested outside Marie's Ham Hut were released. Warren E. Moore aided Shaw but did not participate in the assault.
