Motorola Leads Quartz Watch Component Push Worldwide
Motorola asserts a three piece quartz watch system including a crystal MOS IC and micro-watt motor will be sold to watch makers worldwide including Girard Perregaux and Benrus. Initial watches will cost about 100 dollars with 5 seconds per month accuracy and a future target of 10 to 20 dollar components. Dr. Daniel E. Noble says parts can be bought separately or together with engineering support.
