Rain and flood damage hit Arizona as storms sweep state
Thunderstorms swept over most sections of Arizona causing floods and closures. Lightning killed a Tucson girl as two feet of water stranded roads and washed out bridges near Ash Fork while floods closed underpasses and forced evacuations in Prescott and Winslow. Rain totals approached record levels across Payson, Casa Grande, and the Salt River Valley.

Car crashes into Jamaica Coffee Shop injures none
A new Oldsmobile plowed through the Jamaica Coffee Shop front in Scottsdale. Three customers were hurled across the room but escaped injury. Driver Robert Clark Brothers, 43, faces drunken driving charges after the vehicle rammed the shop and caused about 3000 dollars in damage. Witnesses said he had the engine running outside before losing control and hitting the building.
