Consumer group fights Senate food plan amendment
The Consumer Federation of America mobilizes its 30 million members against a Dole drafted amendment to the consumer protection bill. CFA says the change would bar the agency from intervening in federal food decisions from soil to supper table, seeking to preserve a consumer voice against agribusiness. Dole aides defend the amendment as narrowly excluding only raw production and not costs or quality after farm gate.
