A 16 horsepower outboard motor was stolen from a Scottshire residence over the weekend but the thief left behind the portable gas tank needed to run the motor. Police report that John G Brider, 89, of Citrus, was robbed of the motor kept on a back yard rack.
An automobile owned by Frank Wadsworth of Cave Creek burned at the Lincoln and Scottsdale Road intersection. Police attributed the blaze to likely electrical trouble. Wadsworth escaped injury.
The Scottsdale Kiwanis Club hosts an annual family night with swimming from 6 30 to 8 p m followed by dinner for members and their wives and children. John Slocum, program director for August, announced the event at the Valley Ho.
The Papago Postal Station at 7450 EL McDowell held a grand opening with remarks by Frank Anderson of the Post Office Department Denver and Scottsdale Mayor Bull Schrader. Postmaster O. C. Wilson, station officials led by N. Weaver Howard and Robert Priest welcomed attendees, with USS representative Nicholas Udall, Sen. Cat Hlaivden, and a Veterans of Foreign Wars flag ceremony. Rev. Father Paul Lawrence delivered the benediction and refreshments followed.
A two car accident caused minor damage at McDowell and Hayden Road Saturday. Julius Nester of 2212 W Belmont Phoenix collided with Harold Koenig of 2235 W Weldon Phoenix. Nester was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
Scottsdale City Manager Ken Williams will address the Optimist Club at 7 am tomorrow August 14 at the Scottsdale Hamada. Optimist President Jim Balls announced the speaking engagement.

Henry and Edna Hurliman of 866 Sunset Trail seek time to resolve right of way issues with city engineers on the site now occupied by a chicken ranch on the east side of 85th Street 510 feet south of McDowell.
