Ft McDowell Mohave Apache community will vote September 2 on selling land to back up Orme Dam flood lake. The referendum ties to the Central Arizona Project with final decision by Interior Secretary due in January. About 150 to 200 eligible voters.
Right wing Christian forces overran Tal Zaatar, a long siege camp in east Beirut. Thousands of Palestinians and Lebanese Moslems escaped, with some holdouts still fighting briefly as camp officials claimed the camp had ceased to exist. Casualty estimates and evacuation details remained uncertain.
President Ford will assume direct command of GOP campaign forces from a command post at the Crown Center Hotel in Kansas City after arriving Sunday night. City officials will meet with downtown businessmen next week to review landscaping plans for the Scottsdale Road improvement project. Officials aim to let merchants choose five ornamental trees two shrub types and three ground covers while ensuring visibility of storefronts. The plan includes 46 streetlights on 15 foot poles with pink sodium lamps using less energy.
Former city official Marc Stragier sells the same municipal refuse containers he invented at a lower price than rivals. Fiberglass Specialists claims Stragier’s bid to Ponca City was 70 per can for 1000 units, while offering 82.50 elsewhere. Stragier cites better production via Reuter Inc. and denies commission fees while in public service.
