A. H. Adams local postmaster visits daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Roy Scales in Tucson for a few days.
Donald E. Upshaw, 19, son of Mrs. Orpha Upshaw, scored highest in a San Diego Naval base entrance exam for a naval prep school at Bainbridge Maryland. He achieved a perfect trigonometry score and enlists in Phoenix in 1948. Upshaw recently visited Scottsdale with his mother and younger brother.
Obituary notes address Mr. Barker’s WWI medical service overseas and postwar roles. He led the rations board without pay until 1945, worked in finance with Lee Higginson, joined Barker Paint, and served in Arizona advisory and fraternal groups. He leaves a sister brother and stepdaughter Gioia Grimditch of Phoenix.
Aquacade reports strong interest in sun valley pool classes with beginners and intermediate groups already forming. Names listed include Jimmy Frye Karen Potter Bob Shugar Dennis Frye Nancy Vo Frye and others. Lifesaving courses planned for August 25 26 31 and September 1 2 require swimmers age 12 or over. Registrations at pool office open until August 25. A Red Cross aquacade with water dances diving displays and child swimming instruction is also planned.

Mr and Mrs Merle Fox return to Riverside from a two month visit as house guests of their daughter and son in law Mrs Vernon Walker Mrs Henry Fox of Scottsdale joined them for the stay. Mrs James Gidden and her children from Oregon are also guests of the Walkers during this period.
