He cites active service on key committees and a record of introduced bills including water irrigation loans and labor standards while pledging to push needed legislation for his district and balanced budget. W L Williams Sr announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Commissioner in Douglas. The announcement states the race is subject to the Democratic Primary on September 11.
A historic record notes Williams a lifelong Democrat with ties to the El Paso Southern Pacific is resigning from his clerk role to comply with law as he seeks a seat as Corporation Commissioner. He studied at public schools and agriculture college, later attending the University of Arizona Zonada. He began work in 1922 when smelters reopened, joining the El Paso Southwestern Railroad Company and holding seniority rights.
