Arizona's two U.S. senators Barry Goldwater and Paul Fannin voted against a $4.5 billion federal public works package that includes $22.6 million for the Central Arizona Project CAP. Goldwater urged delaying the project due to inflation concerns and proposed restoring a $5.4 million land purchase cut for Ft. McDowell Indian reservation right of way.
