Mayor cites city limits on private street maintenance
Mayor William C. Jenkins told the Scottsdale Council of Homeowners Association that the city cannot spend public funds to sweep private streets in townhouse and condominium developments. He proposed SCOHA form a committee to explore options including dedicating streets to the city or creating improvement districts. The city estimates 49.5 curb miles of private streets would cost about 3.50 per mile for a three week sweep. The city has budgeted 40000 in federal community development block grant funds to landscape medians on Scottsdale Road from Chaparral to McDonald, while cost control aims for a desert look.
