Options Trading Surges On Amex To 40000 Daily Contracts
Amex officials report options trading on the exchange has exploded from about 4000 daily contracts in January 1975 to 40000 in January 1976. The growth reflects more small investors and institutions using call options to leverage stock gains with limited upfront cost while secondary sales of options add liquidity. Amex aims to expand access and offerings in 1976 including government bonds and varied funds to attract more investors.
