Judge William Nabours of Yuma was to rule this afternoon on the legality of Scottsdale’s annexation of an area housing about 20 000 people completed 16 months ago. The week-long trial resumed this morning after Scottsdale attorneys moved for judgment upholding the annexation.

A 12-year-old Scottsdale boy, David John Eckhardt, slipped from a window ledge and tangled a drapery cord around his neck. Police said he was found by his mother, revived after 15 minutes of resuscitation, and taken to Baptist Hospital in fair to good condition. City plans court action to enforce Scottsdale sign ordinance
Scottsdale will go to court to enforce the sign ordinance with about 20 complaints in city court. Zoning Inspector Don Palmer says roughly 75 percent of signs in Scottsdale violate the ordinance and cameras will document non conforming sites for court use. The ordinance sets one square foot per linear front foot, caps signs at 100 square feet, and charges 2.50 to 20 in permit fees depending on size.
