President Carter chats with energy advisers on a tough plan to curb consumption. Proposals include a standby 10 cent gallon tax rise, a vehicle tax scaling to 3200 dollars, crude oil and natural gas price increases, industry coal conversion, and homeowner insulation incentives.
Kenneth R. Chambers, an investigator for Maricopa County Attorney, testified that Ned Warren offered a bribe by note and then frisked him to ensure no microphone was hidden. The hearing before Nancy West addressed a motion to quash the bribery charge or set bond.
