British charter airliner crash near Basel kills 110
A four engine Vanguard turboprop on a second instrument approach to Basel from Bristol crashed into a snow covered forested hill near Hochwald killing at least 110 of 146 aboard. 25 to 35 survivors. Rescue delayed over two hours as crews reached wreckage.

Youth claims arrest in Scottsdale party clash
A 17 year old boy, Robert McConnell, told police that Officer George Rogers used excessive force during a disturbance at a home on East Edward Lane where about 100 teens gathered. McConnell required stitches after a head wound from the encounter, while officers report he fought and the officer struck him with a flashlight. Police say the youth provoked the fight and no excessive force complaints have been filed.

Motorcycle crash injures 18 year old in Phoenix
An 18 year old Phoenix man, Terry Clay, was injured when a motorcycle skidded on Indian School Road near Granite Reef Road. Rider Jerry D. McSpadden, 25, lost control while shifting gears. no citations were issued. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. Monday. Clay was treated and released at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. Two infants sustained injuries Monday afternoon on Camelback Road after a car rear ended a pickup. Amos Bransford, 3 months, and Shawn Adams, 8 months, were treated and released at Scottsdale Memorial. Their mother Carol D. Bransford, 19, was cited for faulty brakes after the crash with Larry D. Roberts, 35, of Phoenix, who drove the westbound pickup.
