Cooley says no board action yet amid questions on artificial heart
Dr. Denton A Cooley, credited with the first artificial heart operation, denies a rift with Dr. Michael DeBakey and says he has not been summoned by any medical board. He plans to appear before Baylor Medical School to answer questions if any arise. The artificial heart used in Friday’s operation on Haskell Earp was not part of NIH funded research supervised by DeBakey.
