Paria oil spill controlled. Bartlett Lake drawdown underway
An 185 barrel oil spill from a trucking accident near Paria Canyon prompted swift action by Utah and Arizona groups to prevent contamination of Paria Creek and the Colorado River confluence. Arizona Game and Fish officials report Bartlett Lake drawdown to meet Phoenix area water demand, affecting spring bass spawning and aquatic habitats. Black bear season opens on Fort Apache Reservation Unit 25 from April 1 to May 31 with a $25 permit.
