Nuclear cost figures disputed in Arizona energy report
A detailed study by Russell Lowes for Arizonans for Safe Energy disputes APS estimates for Palo Verde costs claiming nuclear power will be at least 151 percent more expensive than coal. The report cites costs from $4.35 to $9.01 billion and $10.04 per kilowatt hour versus $6.54 for coal. Lowes argues decommissioning costs may reach $200 million and questions APS capacity assumptions.
