The Palace Theatre in Scots Neck opened Saturday night with eight hundred seats. The new municipal building houses the theater and features ventilation and comfortable seating from the New Wells in Norfolk. Miss N Shields provided music on the new piano, drawing local patrons and townspeople.

Hustling firms including Burroughs Pittman Wheeler, Everybody's Store, Hardy Hardware, The Hardware Hustlers, North Sand Drug Store, The House that Quality Built, The Palace Theatre, and The Home of Good Pictures provide ballot boxes for votes on purchases.
Richmond reports that the North Carolina Medical College at Charlotte will merge with the Medical College of Virginia. The move follows shortages of hospital beds and accreditation issues, with Charlotte dropping to the Virginia school for the next session. Doctors like Dr Paul B. Barri founded NC Medical College. Dr J Allison Hodges of Charlotte aided negotiations.
At a meeting the Democratic Executive Committee fixed the county and legislative primary election for Thursday August 6 after designating the meeting for Monday July 9 to formalize the schedule and primary timing.
