The West Africa Currency Board seeks to curb silver hoarding by natives who prefer silver to paper and now respond to a proposed one shilling note. Silver shipments are being sent by steamer to the Princes Islands conference as authorities try to stabilize exchange. Russia’s northern govt refuses to meet Bolshevik contingent and the Omsk government voices strong reserve.
An explosion at the Analine Products Corporation plant in Nyack New York leaves three workers missing and twenty hospitalized all employees of the facility. Investigators reported the blast caused extensive damage to the plant and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene.
Torquay England plans to rename itself Honeymoon Town as New Zealand troops assemble there with British brides before sailing again. Daily arrivals of NZ soldiers and wives may reach about a thousand. Local women reflect mixed reaction as many brides have already married NZ troops who passed through during the war.
