The young orator, praised for flawless language and memory, spoke on The Books of the Bible and Their Division, impressing the Hickory Mercury with his early promise.

By order of the court dated January 2 1914 in Halifax County Superior Court a public cash auction will be held February 2 1914 in Scotland Neck North Carolina. Real estate includes Lot No 6 and Lot No 2 described by metes and bounds totaling about five acres, conveyed from R H Smith to Thomas Shields and relating to the William Evans estate.
