East Carolina Teachers Training School resumed January 6 after Christmas. The president again faced high demand for admission, denying 148 applicants this school year and nearly 1200 since the institution began five years ago. Shaw University Fires 200 Striking Students

In Raleigh on January 6, two hundred Shaw University students were entered on the register as dishonorably discharged after a strike. They had until 3 pm to seek reinstatement but none did. About 25 students remain in good standing, including male theological pupils and girls in industrial departments. The revolt followed demands to oust President Meserve, who vows to stay in his post with support from the American Baptist Mission Board and local citizens.
