Press dispatch from Washington states that Postmaster General Burleson approved restoring telegraph and telephone systems to their owners after needed legislation. American cable lines are to be restored to owners immediately, with a date of May 20 tentatively hoped for by the time of the cablegram received yesterday.
The A M E Zion Sunday School of Tarboro directed by JR Ervin will present a musical and literary entertainment at the Court House Tarboro on Thursday May 1 at nine o'clock with leading colored talent from Tarboro and nearby areas. Washington April 29 Two casualty lists were issued for publication today. The War Department lists 107 names and the Navy Department lists 15 Marines identified. Brink Thomas of Tarboro died of disease. North Carolina soldiers named include Private James F. Williams of Vineland died of wounds. Private Herman E. Higgins of Smithfield died of disease. Private John Hicks of Staley was returned to duty after being listed as dead. Private James H. Arnette of Charlotte was killed in action.
