Mrs H RB Jobe of Birmingham reports severe heart distress with oppression and left sided pain. After taking three bottles of Miles Heart Cure and Nervine she notes relief and restoration of nerves and heart function, and she recommends the remedies to others.
The Farm and Home advises a smokehouse eight by eight feet near a slope with a ten foot link to a furnace. Construct from matched boards with a shingle roof and connect with eight inch tile to a stovepipe through the roof. Hang meat, start a green birch fuel fire, and regulate the damper to smoke for at least six hours.
A Rural New Yorker correspondent plans a unheated greenhouse for early plant setting. An expert carpenter advised that a hip roof would retain more heat in early spring than a straight roof, though sun heat advantage from such a design is not significant.
The Rural New Yorker favors a straight roof with about eight inches rise per foot for a greenhouse. It notes higher costs and potential leaks with hip roofs and leantos. A simple, light design using glass and board portions is suggested as a feasible option.
