Republic County Fair Concludes At Belleville
The Republic County Fair held September 8 to 11 at Belleville closed with decent crowds on Wednesday Thursday and Friday though below last year's turnout. Races were fair with live stock exhibits praised and music by Scandia Bellsville and Wayne bands. Omar Hite of Republic City passed through town en route to Holton where he will study. his parents plan to move there in October after Omar’s six months at the Journal.

Swedish Lutherans held a Tuesday evening social on the church lawn. The program featured choir songs, declamations by Miss Regina Maxell and Oscar Fled berg, an essay by D. A. Nywall, and Scandia band music. Refreshments followed and the proceeds totaled $13.15.
