President Shot At Pan American Exposition
At Buffalo on Friday during a high profile event at the Temple of Music thousands heard a gunman fire two bullets. One struck the president’s breastbone and was removed easily while the second pierced the abdomen and lodged in the body. Surgeons treated the serious wound as he reassured bystanders with calm remarks. Blood stained his shirt as officials feared the worst yet he remained standing.

He rose at 3 each morning, walked, and consumed simple meals of porridge and milk, mutton, and modest ale. He avoided tea or coffee for decades, then retired by 9.
