At St. Joseph Missouri on November 11 A A Baldwin Joe Urban from Belleville Adolph Nelson and G W Nimocks from Scandia attended the P P O O meeting with delegates from Hannibal to Colby. Discussion covered progress toward cement or hard surfaced roads across Missouri and efforts to straighten turns to suit high speed traffic. Kansas leaders touted a strong road program while Missouri faced right of way hurdles. The Kansas Association elected J B Hampton Colby president and W P Noone Jenning secretary. Scandia Telephone Tests Improve Local Service

The Scandia Telephone Company hosted a week of line tests using a testing machine and ohm meter to measure high resistance on town and country lines. Results were satisfactory with few lines showing undue resistance, and the firm plans to continue testing to maintain service quality. An inverted V construction is trialed west of town to resist sleet and north winds, with extra guys installed to prevent winter troubles. The method mirrors Nebraska practice among large carriers and aims to reduce future line failures.
