Jamestown Man Wins State Husking Contest

Orville Peterson from near Jamestown won the Kansas State Corn Husking Championship held near Abilene and will compete in the national contest in Illinois. He resides on a Cloud County farm owned by John Vandeveer of Scandia. Mr and Mrs Jay Bell accompanied by John Poage traveled to Savannah Missouri on Friday where Mrs Bell remained for hospital treatment. Mr Bell and Mr Poage returned home Sunday evening. Canals in Scandia Near Completion Under Relief Fund

Slick-Tongued Salesman Defrauds Widow Near Minneapolis

A 70 year old widow, Mrs. Clara Bower, says William Lundstrom swindled her and her two sons out of 60 to 110 shares of United Companies stock by exchanging it for debentures of Consolidated Gas Utility. Carl Newcomer orders arrest and cancels Lundstrom's and his company licenses. Lundstrom, once of Salina and Lindsborg, is alleged to have misrepresented stock and traded for higher value securities.
