Life of Civil War veteran Swan Haggman noted in obituary
Swan Anton Haggman born October 28 1842 in Umea Sweden. He sailed the seas three times circumnavigating the globe joined the U S Navy in 1864 and served through Fort Fisher Cold Harbor Hamp ton Roads and other engagements. He settled in Republic county Kansas in 1873 and raised ten children. He died October 31 1930 after a long life marked by resilience and steadfastness.
