W P Shivvers and R E Cooper drove to Newton and Dodge City. Miss Marcell Preble stayed with Irene and Agnes Polley at Republic Saturday night. Mr and Mrs J O Anderson and others attended a party at the Aug Band home near Courtland Friday evening.

He sailed the seas three times circumnavigating the globe joined the U S Navy in 1864 and served through Fort Fisher Cold Harbor Hamp ton Roads and other engagements. He settled in Republic county Kansas in 1873 and raised ten children. He died October 31 1930 after a long life marked by resilience and steadfastness.
