Merry Andrew at Princess Theatre Heads to Circus Themed Screen

Danny Kaye stars in Merry Andrew at the Princess Theatre May 30 and 31 a bright English schoolteacher drawn into a circus world. The film features a large Big Top set with aerialists animals and clowns plus seven hit songs and CinemaScope color. The theater will close after this showing as business wanes.

Sorosis Study Club Luncheon Marks Year End

Sorosis Study club ended its year with a May 19 luncheon at the Ronda Room in Belleville. Members received corsages, with a duet by Mrs Don Freed and Mrs George Nielson, piano by Mrs Max Berry, and business conducted by Mrs Don Larson.

Republic County residents bought Series E and H United States Savings Bonds totaling 534,462 in April. The county's four month total reached 389,330 while state April purchases stood at 7,509,928 and 1959 statewide total at 47,983,277. Kansas aims for 94 million dollars this year and has reached about 51 percent of the goal.

OES Chapter No. 481 Meets in Regular Session

Scandia Chapter No. 481 of the Order of Eastern Star met in regular form on Tuesday evening May 19 with Mrs. Ray Tingstrom as worthy matron and Duaine Greenslade as worthy patron. Rural High School District No 6 Plans June Meetings

The district schedules its First Regular Annual Meeting at the school on June 4 at 2:00 p.m. to elect a director clerk and treasurer and to adopt a budget. Common School District No 6 sets its annual meeting for 8:00 p.m. on Friday June 5. A temporary board consisting of Dr J L Bennett John Nylund and Vernon Erickson was elected May 26 to serve until the June 4 election.
