A 4 ounce hen egg was shown at Morey Grocery last week prompting James Weislogel to joke that one hen in his flock is helping reduce the cost of living by producing two eggs in a single shell. The Kansas hen is noted for its vigor.
A party of nine, including Fred Anderson and A. M. Swanson, departed Scandia on No 6 with baggage for Sweden. They spent Sabbath in Chicago then went to New York to sail Thursday on the American Hamburg Line to Hamburg Germany. They plan rail to Denmark and Malmouth Sweden, spending the summer there.
A Harmony meeting at the Belleville Courthouse drew about 100 representatives from county factions. Twelve delegates, four women and eight men, were chosen to attend the Republican harmony meeting in Topeka on June 3. J. J. Smith was named chair, Geo. W. Gregg secretary, and the delegation includes Mrs P M Bushing, Mrs Ek Cameron, Mrs R Z Jellison, Mrs Aaron Engle, J J Smith, C H Jewell, F N Woodward, W B Wilson, C A Baird, J W Berry, Leonard Haggama, and Jas Ramsbottom.
Regretful notice that Rev C T Carlson will leave in July to accept a call at the church in Shickley Fillmore County Nebraska. He has been cooperative with the Journal supplying news items and has pleasant business ideas that will be missed. Also notes Rev Frank Osgood of Bennington will preach Children s Day in Narka Presbyterian Church on June 5. Osgood is a former pastor with many friends here.

A large crowd attended the Wednesday wrestling event in Scandial featuring Mr. Young and Doctor. Doctor won the first fall in 30 minutes 18 seconds and the second in 15, denying Young the Kansas championship claim as the fast paced bout showcased pinches and strong holds. Preliminary matches included Chas Lysholm vs Osa Godfrey with Lysholm taking the 1st and 3rd falls.
A large audience packed City Hall on Saturday for Republic Co. High School events. The "Chrystal Queen" operette and View Bob TM comedy drew praise for bright performances and costumes, with a net of 72.45 dollars from admission.
Scandia Dall players traveled to Norway Friday and defeated the Norway team. Both squads remained on the grounds for a second contest as this edition went to press.
Prof Olsson announced that Director R R Price of Kansas University confirmed G A Gesell cannot attend the Commencement address Friday night and A S Olin of the Department of Education will deliver the talk instead.
Sporting fans may see a fine exhibition next Monday night May 26 at City Hall as Herman Gann meets C. G. Yoder the Nebraskan in a featured wrestling bout.
Memorial services will be held at City Hall Sunday at 11 o clock. Rev. Gale will deliver the address. All churches will unite in this service.
