Intermediate Scouts Meet At Club Room For Mothers Day

Seven girls and two leaders met Monday afternoon for an Intermediate Scouts session in the club room. Diane served lunch and the group prepared gifts for mothers as part of Mothers Day program. Betty Johnston, reporter.

Riverview 4H Club Plans Spring Tour and Sunday Event

Riverview 4-H met April 21 1931 in the Scandia music room. The group discussed Spring Tour plans for June 5 and a 4-H Sunday service on May 15 at the Methodist church. A potluck will follow the tour at Scandia park by the river.

National Home Demonstration Week Observed in Kansas Units

The Sherdahl HDU unit celebrates National Home Demonstration Week May 1 to May 7. Members study clothing nutrition health landscaping home furnishings and management with crafts civil defense and recreation. Delegates plan the year and lessons improve home life with practical results such as improved kitchens laundry storage closets and calorie awareness.

Social Hour Club Party at Ambrose Schoolhouse

The Social Hour club held a Tuesday evening gathering at the Ambrose schoolhouse. Mr and Mrs Geo Brion showed pictures and Mr Brzon recently returned from Europe. Attendees included multiple local couples and families. They will meet Thursday May 5 with Mrs Hilton Waite.

Scandia Seniors Tour Denver Colorado Adventure

Scandia high school seniors traveled to Denver with six sponsors on April 21. The group visited the Mint, Monkey Island, the airport, Royal Gorge, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, Canon City State Prison, Garden of the Gods, Zoo, and Balanc ed rock, returning via Colorado Springs. Highlights included gold brick viewing, a Royal Gorge suspension bridge ride, and a trumpet demonstration by Raphael Mendez.

School Trip Highlights and Honors Across Grades

Eighth graders toured Topeka visiting the Santa Fe Shops Gage Park and the State Capitol before stopping at WIBW Alexander Baking Co and a local museum. Sandia's Trading Post Opens May 7 on Highway 36

New business Sandia's Trading Post plans a grand opening Saturday May 1 with free refreshments and prizes. Located on Highway 36 across from Phillips 668 station, the store is owned by Mr and Mrs Joseph McDonald and family inviting patrons to visit and preview the new tourist trading store.

Triple L Club Meeting Hosted by Mrs. Clark

Mrs. Wm. Clark hosted the Triple L Club at her home on Thursday afternoon with 12 members present and two guests Mrs. Acis White and Mrs. George Fike Jr. The group played pinochle and shared a lunch before adjourning. Last week’s visitors to Mrs. Carl McRowell included many names.

Legion Auxiliary Meeting and Community Efforts

The American Legion Auxiliary Post 193 met at George Cardwell’s home on April 20. They sent Mother Day cards to Wadsworth hospital and placed a card drop box at Hammer grocery. They donate funds to Legion Boy’s State and Cancer fund, sent carpet rags to blind veterans, and took the apron project to a Beloit district meeting. Cardwell and Mrs. Homer attended conventions and a Saturday sale was advertised for the Gunt building. New member Mrs. Bill Wilson welcomed. 24-member quota reached.
