In Feb 1902 Republic County Kansas held a special session to release three inmates from the county jail Martin McDermit Fred Poage and James Hoag after findings they could not pay fines and costs The board authorized Sheriff Brown to release them This session also adjourned to Feb 13 to consider tax compromise on property in Belleville city Amos Pierce mayor presided and the county approved a tax redemption proposal for Simond's addition paying 1300 to settle back taxes for 1897 1898 1899 1900 and 1901. The adjournment marked the end of proceedings and notice of a headache remedy followed.
