The Red Cross local branch voted to draw $100 for Near East Relief, while social notices mention farm and grocery ads and a housework wanted ad.
Various residents report moving plans illness and visits. Dr Briney of Courtland Kansas is listed and Wm Vaundeveer relocation south of Rydal. A W Sandell plans Texas work trip. Mrs Anna Swanson hosted guests. L C Tiehr reports fruit farm moves to Campbell and Saratoga California. Families and neighbors are noted visiting illness and travel. The 18th Kansas Good Roads Assn meeting is set in Atchison March 10 11 with A Q Millar presiding.
Fifty years ago on the seventh a. ellingson marked the present Secandia townsite. The postmaster and his father traveled from Chicago to Waterville by air then walked the rest with a shotgun. Hanson hotel and one frame building were the only structures above ground in 1870.
Frank Cuthbertson visited Dr. Sherard at Norway. Mesdanres and Wilson with Co Wires and Arthur Wilson traveled to Concoria. Linest Beck and Mrs. Isaacson hosted Sunday visitors in White Rock township. Threshing continues but a Wednesday storm will halt work for several days. Emil Bowman moves from Washington to the Ike Holden farm in Union township. Mrs. Conrad Sederlin celebrates a quadrennial birthday. Last Sunday Feb 29 a few GTS and friends recalled her ninth quadrennium anniversary with a pleasant afternoon and refreshments.
Voters in the precinct are asked to gather at City Hall Friday at 7 00 PM to choose delegates and alternates for the unity convention to meet next Wednesday in Belleville. Belleville will select twelve delegates and alternates to represent the county at district and state conventions.
