A Plea for the Sunflower State defends Kansas image
A Kansas booster argues against Iowa stereotypes, praising education and morality in Kansas, criticizing Iowa rural schools for neglect and liquor issues, and urging Kansans to defend their state’s honor. The piece cites Miss Aldott on thought, notes wage contrasts, and contrasts liquor impacts in licenced states with Kansas. It ends by inviting readers to a Swedish Mission Fourth of July program at Aaron Anderson’s grove with ice cream and lemonade.
