A benefit dance is announced for Leonard Freed on Saturday evening at Eagles Home in Belleville. The Scadia Journal office will be closed Thursday through Saturday this week. Subscriptions may be renewed to save money before expiration and rising postage costs.
Social Security official Gene Lundgren will visit Belleville on June 23 1971 to provide information at the courthouse basement from 8 to 12. Call 913 825 0545 for the Salina office before visiting or calling Lundgren directly to save time. Bagworm damage to evergreens such as arbovitas cedar and other species has been seen in castra and central basas. Watch trees this time of year for old bags on twigs as each bag can hold hundreds of eggs. Over 40 youths and supervisors toiled in a Pioneer Seed corn field in the Sgardia Norway area. They harvested and detasseled after a day off, with planned continued work on the same fields to produce area adapted seed under the Pioneer Seed program led by Mrs Christensen and other supervisors.
Sixty six alumni and friends attended the Norway high school reunion on Saturday evening May 29 at the Norway Auditorium. Mrs. Lovett Howe presided with Warren Scott of Belleville as master of ceremonies. The event featured Swedish Singers and local performers, with officers elected for next year including President Osmyn Smith and Treasurer Iver Hammer.
