Obituary of John Anderson Born in Sweden in 1868
John Anderson died June 4 1948 at age 85 in Courtland Kansas after a life spanning emigration from Sweden in 1888 to homesteading in Nebraska and farming near Courtland. He married Inga Freeman in 1890 and is survived by four children and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 7 at Covenant Church Courtland. A separate family reunion honored Lawrence Rasmussen and family with a large gathering of relatives and friends.

Remembering Lt George H Thompson Pilot in India Burma theatre
George Houder Thompson born April 9 1921 near Scandia died October 9 1944 in a plane crash over a mountain in the India Burma theatre. He enlisted February 1941 in Denver became a pilot for Combat Cargo Group flying supply missions over the hump. Funeral services were held at Scandia and Ledo with full military honors. He left parents Rolla and Lillie Thompson sister Catherine Kirk two brothers Andy and Alva and friends including Staff Sergeant W J Estes. Burial at Riverview cemetery with American Legion rites.
