Scandia public school outlines a summer music program starting Monday July 14 with enrollment for private lessons from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. in the high school music room. Only the north door will be open and band rehearsals begin Tuesday June 15 at 6 30 p.m with potential Thursday rehearsals and concerts every other Saturday if attendance stays steady.
The Scandia Rest Home diary lists visiting families led by Mrs Jim Reed and others over two weeks. Memorial Day services and church group visits are noted along with patient updates, new resident Wilbur Kelly from Norway, and thanks to the American Legion Auxiliary and individual donors for flowers and treats.
The Republican Valley Pee Wee League announces a tournament at Scandia ball park with games on Monday June 21 Wednesday June 23 and finals Saturday June 26. Participating teams include Narka Cuba Republic Courtland Spandia Blues and the Scandia Reds.
A reception honoring Rev and Mrs Lee Dickey at the Met Church will be held Sunday evening January 13 from 7:00 to 9:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone welcome. Mr and Mrs Don Freed and family spent Sunday in Manhattan.
A Poem and local notices mix praising grandchildren and daughters with a short humorous verse. Donations listed show contributions to a ball park improvement by individuals and organizations. Total donations to date amount to 667.25 with small 29.00 additional entry. Send donations to the Lions Club in care of Earl Melby.
Mrs Lena Lloyd hosted a Bible Study group at her home on Wednesday afternoon June 2. Attendees included Mrs Lillie Mc Gregor Mrs Walter Saunders Mrs Lloyd Kelly Mrs Ed Smith Mrs Eva Stolander Ida Isaacson Mrs Agnes Cardwell Mrs Frank Lervold and Mrs Bertha Granstedt. After lunch the group adjourned to meet with Mrs Eva Sjoland er at the Methodist church parlors.
Rita Ann Muret, daughter of Mr and Mrs Raymond Muret, is the valedictorian of Winfield High School class of 210 the largest in the school's history. She will attend Kansas State University on a Putnam scholarship.
Scandia Chapter No. 481 OES met Tuesday evening June 1 with Mrs. Bill Brewer and Arc hie Isaacson presiding. The next meeting is June 15 at 8 pm with District Aide visit and Narka Chapter as guests. Potluck supper followed. Edna Robison returns from hospital. Barbara and Betty Jo Tedrow travel to Lincoln, Nebraska for visit with Ty sons and Tyson family.
A representative from the Social Security Administration will visit Belleville on Tuesday June 15 1965. People seeking information should call the Courthouse Welfare Office between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Farmers are reminded to keep records for workers meeting the $150 cash wage test for social security coverage and include name social security number and wages.
The Social Hour Club met June 1 with eight members and one guest, Hmma Klaumann. Members answered roll with flower themed responses and received flowers from the host. Mrs. Berggren won a napkin prize. A book titled Dear Debbie will be placed in Rae Hobgon Memorial Library in Jolene Cline’s memory. The club will meet June 15 with Mrs. Rex Sandell.
The Scandia Lions Club met at the new Royal Cafe on Thursday at 7 30 p m with 31 members and three guests. The Johnson family served the evening meal. Speakers Dr J L Bennett and Joseph McDonald discussed ball park activities and facilities.
The Scandia high school library is donating numerous titles to the city library. Included are Robin Hood by Sterling, Beautiful Joe by Marshall Saunders, Tom Slade by Fitzhugh, Cadet Days by Capt. Charles King, and Under the Basket by H. M. Sherman among many others by diverse authors.
The Nystrom family reunion gathered at the IOOF Hall in Belleville for a Sunday basket dinner hosted by Frank Nystrom's children. Numerous relatives attended including Ted Hanson Harry Nelson Clarence Stenson Clarence Widen Russell Nystrom Ernest Nystrom Gene Lacey Carl Hammer Iver Hammer and others from Jamestown Concordia Courtland Republic Lawrence and Belleville.
Conservation work completed in Republic County during April and May 1965 across terraces waterways diversion terraces ponds drainage field ditch and related sites. Named workers include Joe Kass Charles Hanzlisk Paul Levendofsky Marion Murphy Vearl Holloway Edd Wiche Don Dejmal and others with several families visiting from Corvallis Oregon during the period.

Pastor C. A. Lofgren and wife were feted at Ada Lutheran church in Ada Friday May 28 with a program and social hour. About 300 members and friends attended to honor the couple before their move to Wakefield Nebraska. The event featured hymns, scripture readings, a floral painting gift, and a monetary token for nearly 15 years of service.
